Choose Metallic Ink or Hot Stamped Foil

Foil stamping has always had a special place in retail sales. Its primary purpose has been to give printed labels on packaged products a richer, more expensive appearance--one that standard printing inks can't provide. The decision to use foil stamping is most often made by weighing marketing needs against the increased cost of labels. Items such as wines, gourmet foods, soaps, lotions, and cosmetics, all of which can command premium prices, are commonly packaged using foil stamped labels.

The lack of an alternative to foil stamping has sustained its use despite the considerably higher cost. There are, however, many more companies which would benefit from the use of foil, and would choose to use foil on their labels, if it were not for the additional expense.

Today, foil stamping is not the only alternative to standard inks. We are now featuring a new line of metallic inks that has a higher metal content than anything we have ever offered. Though it does not precisely duplicate the appearance of foil, we feel it is superior to anything previously available. Every company contemplating incorporating a metallic look into any new label designs should look at both foil and our new metallic inks.

The look of a label is the sum of its shape, design, color, and the material of which it is made. If the use of metallic inks interests you, we also recommend looking at our textured papers (think of "old looking" wine labels) and films. The visual impact of these combinations is quite impressive.
